Mother Daughter Day

Flower blossoms
pink, white, purple, pale yellow of chiffon curtains
wind ruffles you
and still
you are there
until the controlling sun
distributes her orders on you
and wilts your color to a shriveled husk

Dear blossoms
before you fade under the sun's demanding requests
send a bit of color my way
fuscia, find your focal point
violet, verse yourself well in words of hue
indigo, invite the storms of change with your depth
lemon, lift the spirits of all who view you
Then, bending and shrinking in the heat of life
return and fight back with the next bloom.
